The Atiku/Obi ticket on the cross road.

There is a very strong indication that Peter Obi’s choice is causing very serious friction in the Southeast. Opinion and political leaders are yet to come to terms. I said it earlier and I am saying it again, Obi is a bad choice as his nomination just handed the presidency to APC on a platter of gold. As a PMB supporter, I am so excited about it. It is believed that Senator Ike Ekweremadu is particular not happy about Obi's choice. But that is their headache and not mine. As it is paining them, it's "sweeting" us.  In the North,  Obi is strongly viewed as anti-north and a major sponsor of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The north are not smiling at all. We told them to calm down then with IPOB and Namdi Kalu madness and act with wisdom. IPOB have very serious points which are authentic and genuine, but method and approach was wrong. But they called us "Efulefu". There are serious implications for every wrong political move. It may hurt all of us politically in the future if we don't still  call ourselves to order. Report has it that over 70 percent of Emirs and other traditional rulers in the North will not support Atiku’s choice of running mate and maintained that  PDP will fail to produce the next president, if the party eventually flies the Atiku/Obi ticket. This revelation really call for celebration. This is the sweetest part of it; over  46 youth organisations in the North already threatened to mobilise its over six million members against the PDP and its presidential candidate, if Atiku failed to take its advice. I don't think this is a good advice and I encourage PDP not to shift ground because of integrity, if they have any. I am still in shock that people could so depend on the vote of people they referred to as cows and useless to help them achieve a particular dream of their kinsman becoming the VP of our great country.

These are difficult times for Atiku and his woes will continue to increase with time as we approach the 2019 general elections. There is evidently nothing to campaign with anymore. It is reported that Atiku is on a medical vacation overseas. May he get well soon to be able to tour round the country during his campaign. But the implication is that the PDP will no longer make PMB's medical trip abroad an issue. They are now in total agreement that anyone can get sick. While they wished that PMB never recover, we are praying for Atiku for God almighty to grant him quick and total healing. His family need him and the many people who work in his various companies will need him as well. One had thought that Atiku Abubakar would have used the world class hospitals that PDP established in every region during their 16 years of waste and no direction instead of going abroad for treatment. These same people want PMB to accomplish everything in 3 and half years.

My prayer is that may Atiku/Obi ticket never see the light of the day. Amen.

Anambara State And The Charles Chukwuma Soludo Template

The template Professor Chukwuma Soludo is bringing to the table in Anambara is fantastic if implementable. But it will definitely be a hard nut to crack. As a professor of Economics, Prof knows that there is a political angel to governance and not everyone is master in this regard. If you are a student of politics, you should be conversant with the word "Realpolitiks" It's German term meaning "the politics of reality." The term is used to describe tough and engaging power politics with no room for idealism or any form of moral or ideological considerations. Not many politicians are masters in this field. The question is; can Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo wriggle and flounder through the muddy waters of hardcore politics. Former Lagos state governor Ambode comes to mind. This interplay between the Political Ideal and Reality is the major reason why politicians and political parties fail to fulfil their campaign promises. Remember that politicians all over t...

Nigeria First World Cup Match in Russia, The Mocking of a Great Nation and Bitterness Taken Too Far.

Can't we have some moments of fun just like many other countries of the world? Is foolishness only resident in the Nigerian youths? Must we use every single thing to show bitterness, exhibit our youthful exuberance and then play politics to show how much we hate our nation or the person (s) at the helm of affairs. It's really getting too nasty for my liking. Nigeria is not the only nation that lost their first game in the ongoing World Cup in Russia and not the only country to have done so since the inception of the World Cup. Rejoicing and making merry that your country lost and insulting the person of your president is not only shameful, but despicable, contemptible, atrocious, disgusting, iniquitous, diabolical, criminal and politics of bitterness taken too far. Losing the first game of the tournament could be fatal, but not that it's over. In the past World Cups, many teams lost their opening games and still made it to the second round. I remember that Ghana in 2006,...

When China executed 26 of her corrupt officials.

China is world's leading executioner. No mercy. The history of the  death penalty in China, is deeply rooted, dating back thousands of years. Political philosopher Shang Yang (390-338 BCE) was among the founders of Chinese legalism, a classical school of thought, and known for advocating a stronger judicial system. China still practice it till today. Research by Amnesty International in 2010, 23 countries use death penalty for different crimes including the United states. People and nations have argued that the method is cruel and inhumane regardless of the crime committed. Here In Nigeria, many people are advocating death penalty for corrupt government officials for the pains they have inflicted on the masses. However, it should be noted at the same time that there is only one issue that can be used as a litmus test for humanism and that is the death penalty. Do you want this in Nigeria to check corruption and corrupt officials?
