The template Professor Chukwuma Soludo is bringing to the table in Anambara is fantastic if implementable. But it will definitely be a hard nut to crack. As a professor of Economics, Prof knows that there is a political angel to governance and not everyone is master in this regard. If you are a student of politics, you should be conversant with the word "Realpolitiks" It's German term meaning "the politics of reality." The term is used to describe tough and engaging power politics with no room for idealism or any form of moral or ideological considerations. Not many politicians are masters in this field. The question is; can Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo wriggle and flounder through the muddy waters of hardcore politics. Former Lagos state governor Ambode comes to mind.
This interplay between the Political Ideal and Reality is the major reason why politicians and political parties fail to fulfil their campaign promises. Remember that politicians all over the world campaign in poetry and govern in prose. You may posses or even hire individuals with the needed skills to win an election but these skills may not be transferable to the world of governance because the reality on ground may prove very different than those encountered on the campaign trail.
There are very clear distinctions between feasibility and compliance where people will rather revolt and reject real meaningful changes that will have lasting effect on society because according to them, money is not circulating due to policies that blocks excessive leakages.
Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo will only succeed if he can identify and hire men who understand politics of governance to translate his template to reality. People want changes but will rather not follow the due process.
I wish Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo well.
May he succeed and may Anambara prosper in his hands.
