Nigeria First World Cup Match in Russia, The Mocking of a Great Nation and Bitterness Taken Too Far.

Can't we have some moments of fun just like many other countries of the world? Is foolishness only resident in the Nigerian youths? Must we use every single thing to show bitterness, exhibit our youthful exuberance and then play politics to show how much we hate our nation or the person (s) at the helm of affairs. It's really getting too nasty for my liking. Nigeria is not the only nation that lost their first game in the ongoing World Cup in Russia and not the only country to have done so since the inception of the World Cup. Rejoicing and making merry that your country lost and insulting the person of your president is not only shameful, but despicable, contemptible, atrocious, disgusting, iniquitous, diabolical, criminal and politics of bitterness taken too far.
Losing the first game of the tournament could be fatal, but not that it's over. In the past World Cups, many teams lost their opening games and still made it to the second round. I remember that Ghana in 2006, advanced after losing to eventual winners Italy. In 2010 Spain made a terrible start to their campaign, losing their opening match to Switzerland, in one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history. Their country men and women did not abandon them. However, the Spanish grew stronger as the tournament progressed, impressing fans with their traditional Tiki-taka and strong defense and eventually won after beating the Netherlands.
I am honestly not saying that Nigeria must win the World Cup. But I also believe in miracles because they do happen and we have seen it take place in football many times. Let's be frank, we don't have the team and the discipline to deliver such upset. After all, we are the youngest team in the 2018 World Cup and even the underdog in our group. Why such high expectations, divisions, rantings and above all foolishness among our youths at a time we are suppose to be united as a country, have fun and cheer our players to victory irrespective of the situation. We can crack our normal jokes we are known for but why must our boys in far away Russia lose their home support after one game just because we lost to a team that is technically better than us. As far as I can remember, this is not the first time we are finding ourselves in such situation no matter who is the president of Nigeria. There was even a time we could not qualify under a particular administration and it was not because of who was president and no one politicized it and even if anyone did, it's wrong and should not be so. Our team is a young team and we could get them ready for the next world cup in Qatar in 2022.
I am even more surprised that no mention was made of marginalization in the team selection otherwise letters would have been sent to FIFA and the UN. This is the very first time we had no issues in preparations without a single government interference. Preparation was 100% excellent and no controversies what so ever as the coach was given free hand to do his things.
There is nothing absolutely wrong from raising hope, sustaining hope and keeping hope alive irrespective of win, lose or draw. There are 32 teams for this World Cup. Only one team will carry the day. They rest including Nigeria will go home to prepare for yet another World Cup. It's all about fun, enjoy the fun and stop all these nonsense. Lets play when we are suppose to an get serious when it's time to do so. You are no longer a child, you are an adult. So stop the foolishness. Have respect for your country and your leaders.

Anambara State And The Charles Chukwuma Soludo Template

The template Professor Chukwuma Soludo is bringing to the table in Anambara is fantastic if implementable. But it will definitely be a hard nut to crack. As a professor of Economics, Prof knows that there is a political angel to governance and not everyone is master in this regard. If you are a student of politics, you should be conversant with the word "Realpolitiks" It's German term meaning "the politics of reality." The term is used to describe tough and engaging power politics with no room for idealism or any form of moral or ideological considerations. Not many politicians are masters in this field. The question is; can Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo wriggle and flounder through the muddy waters of hardcore politics. Former Lagos state governor Ambode comes to mind. This interplay between the Political Ideal and Reality is the major reason why politicians and political parties fail to fulfil their campaign promises. Remember that politicians all over t...

When China executed 26 of her corrupt officials.

China is world's leading executioner. No mercy. The history of the  death penalty in China, is deeply rooted, dating back thousands of years. Political philosopher Shang Yang (390-338 BCE) was among the founders of Chinese legalism, a classical school of thought, and known for advocating a stronger judicial system. China still practice it till today. Research by Amnesty International in 2010, 23 countries use death penalty for different crimes including the United states. People and nations have argued that the method is cruel and inhumane regardless of the crime committed. Here In Nigeria, many people are advocating death penalty for corrupt government officials for the pains they have inflicted on the masses. However, it should be noted at the same time that there is only one issue that can be used as a litmus test for humanism and that is the death penalty. Do you want this in Nigeria to check corruption and corrupt officials?
